How do we differentiate posters same avatar?

There are many threads that have Sex God Legacy. Female. Even guys have it.

Is there something I am missing that will show each poster clearer so things flow better?

They should really let everyone customize their avatars so we know who’s who..

A little username flair or unique avatar would make things so much less confusing!

At this point, we need detective badges just to figure out who’s who!

I agree. I have gotten lost in a few threads attempting to follow the dialog.

When I migrated the old site to the system i made - i moved a lot of content by hand to make sure i didn't import a lot of low quality junk. Many of the users who made those posts were from some 20 years ago - so i started with everything under a legacy user - with a note about who the OP was. I have since backfilled those missing users and reassigned posts to them.

Custom uploaded avatars sadly results in a giant amount of dick pics sadly... or worse (CP)... so i wasn't overly fond of having to police that. The current system supports some 350k unique avatars - but nothing stops people from copying someone they like.

If you guys have any suggestions for improvements - i'm all ears!
