Couple of thoughts and tips:

1. The only drawback to this position is a lack of face to face intimacy. This can be remedied through use of a mirror. A mirror also allows for the couple to see themselves having sex, which is quite a turn-on.

When they are ready to resume normal doggy style the wife can “teeter-totter” back over to her original position. If I am really close I stop all stimulation and just focus on increasing intimacy by gently kissing her back.

If a short session is desired (or you want to finish a slow session with a bang) get a firm grip on the wife's hips and go to town with fast, deep, vigorous thrusting. This is the best part IMO.
