OP: Missed pills, period off by 2 weeks!

I wasn't really sure where I should post this, and health seemed to be the best place...Please correct me if I'm wrong.

For background, I'm currently 17, and taking Orthotricycline Lo for birth control...And posting this makes me feel horribly irresponsible.

My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex on May 23rd, this was during the first week after my period. I took my pills consistently for at least three days after, then I missed two pills. On the third day, (so about five days after the sex) I started to bleed. I was into the second week after my period, and the second week of pills. Now, a week after the bleeding started, I am still bleeding. Also, I was diagnosed with mononucleosis on Wednedsay, May 28th (possibly irrelevant, but I thought it'd be worth mentioning).

Can anyone help me understand why I got my period two weeks early, and if it could be at all related to pregnancy? Although I doubt it is, seeing as I'm bleeding, it's still got me concerned. Maybe it's just my body reacting to a combination of factors?

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

(I'll be going in to see my doctor next Tuesday, and possibly stopping in at Planned Parenthood this weekend.)

I would think you just messed you body's hormones up by not taking the pill and the bleeding was induced from the absence of hormones. I assume when you realized you forgot them, you resumed them when you remembered.

If you were given any medications for the Mono check them with the doc for interactions. Be certain to use another form of BC as well. FYI: Might want to ask a Lyme's titer be done as well if you have a positive Mono test.

What exactly does a Lyme's titer test for? I had blood drawn last week, and they ran several different tests, I'm not sure if that was included.

It check for Antibodies/Antigens secondary to a tick bite. Additionally a Western Blot should be done. The WB will show either an old disease or active one. Often Mono & Lyme's cross react making it tough to determine which disease is present--the best indicator are the bands present from the Lyme's WB for a proper diagnosis.

I'm sure it was (is) mono. Anyhow, whether it was (is) mono or lyme disease isn't really the important question to me right now. I'm more concerned as to how likely it is that I could be pregnant. (And what I should do supposing I am....) :\

Please don't take that as me being ungrateful. I really do appreciate your input and that you're willing and able to provide it.

As I said earlier I would doubt pregnancy is a possibility. If in doubt purchase OTC pregnancy tests. Do a few.

Ruling out Lyme's v. Mono is significant especially under the circumstances; treatment is essential if positive for Lyme's. Had plenty of patients cross-react for each. If it was Lyme's early detection and treatment make life much easier; secondary to treatment modalities.

Begin with the home preg tests to be sure & follow up on the other's when you go back for your re-check or when your clinician calls with your lab results. Honestly, the majority also toss in a serum preg. test with the symptoms you describe...just ask if he/she did.

Try the home tests. If positive check with your practitioner as far as options.
