OP: Trichomoniasis!

Ok so my gf that i have been with for the ovr 3yrs has trichomoniasis (std), i think she got it recently which would mean she has cheated on me. She is saying she had for more than 3 yrs! Is that even possible with the discomfort just becoming more prominent in the last 3mths? (i have not had any other sexual partner in the time we have been together) Also is it possible to get it without having sex?

Typically, trichomoniasis shows up in four to fourteen days after infection. It can, however, have a latent period in either men or women. Three years with no symptoms is highly doubtful. If you have been having sex with her, it is likely that you have been infected. In some men it disappears on its own and in others, they can become carriers for quite a while. It is easily treated so, please. seek treatment. I assume she is on her own for treatment.

It is transmitted in vaginal fluids and semen. Women can transmit it to women but it does not show up on its own without sexual contact.

Just curious; is it a myth then that it can be transmitted through girls sharing towels?

When my roomy was diagnosed with it, the doctor asked her about sharing and cleaning intimate objects, including towels, washcloths, razors, etc. And then checked in on me if I was experiencing any symptoms (I didn't, btw). We weren't that keen on separating our stuff, neither on washing towels and washcloths at >40 degrees C... we were after :)

...... well, yes, it could happen. Wet towels from drying down there used quite soon for another woman to do so could transmit. It is a good reason for women to sit on a towel in a locker room. Sharing of toys that are inserted would be more likely but the direct injection deep into the vagina is the most likely.

I, too, follow your practices, Red, because it it possible to transmit via towels with direct contact with vaginal fluid, both giving and receiving, but my guess is very few of us are infected this way.

My last line in previous post should be "without contact with vaginal fluids." Sorry.

Guy, why aren't you using condoms????

No condoms = worry + std/sti infections and scares
Condoms = no worries + no std/sti infections and scares other than herpes

Unless you're married to her, you have NO RIGHT to tell her what she can do or with whom she can do it WHATSOEVER.
