For example, in MOBA type games (like Dota 2 or League of Legends), currency is mostly used for cosmetic items that don't directly affect gameplay. In contrast, in role-playing games such as Skyrim or Witcher, currency is more often used to purchase items that can have a real impact on gameplay, such as weapons or potions.
