OP: Daily discharge

I used to have a slight incontinence problem but after 2 macroplastique operations it seems to have improved. I always used to have to wear a pantyliner as it was uncomfortable always having wet pants. I thought the situation was going to improve ...and it did for a while... however now what I am getting is (i guess) continuous discharge. To the point where i've needed to go back to wearing a light pantyliner again. I spoke to my gynae about this and he did some tests and give some capsules however nothing has changed - i'm still waiting for my next appointment with my gyane - however since he hasn't called i guess the results were ok - no infections.

by mid-afternoon/evening i find i start to smell. I used to think that others around me are able to smell it also as it seems quite strong to me - however I asked my bf about it and he said he couldnt smell anything - unless he really stuffed his face down there. also he said that to him its not a bad smell.

my question is - does this happen to anyone else? is it normal to have 'normal discharge' on a daily basis? by the end of the day the panty liner gets quite soggy (i use the really light always multiform). and also....why is it that i smell it bad and my bf doesn't? does this mean its a normal healthy discharge and there's nothing i can do about it???

also....we dont have much sex due to lack of opportunity.....can this have anything to do with it?? i dunno maybe its kind of 'cleansing/lubricating' itself or sthing?!

i feel very lost and confused so any feedback whatsoever would be greatly appreciated!!! thanks!

What kind of discharge is it. Not trying to be gross or anything but I think that could help people to help you out.

If I wear a pantyliner when I am not on my period (like if I am spotting or very light) I notice that it starts to smell if I leave it on all day. For me it is just the fact that you are not getting any air down there, the pantyliner will keep your sweat and natural odors trapped against your body instead of breathing like the fabric of your underwear does. Sometimes if I'm having a heavy discharge day, yes some of it will get on my underwear. But this comes out easily in the wash.

I think a bit of discharge is normal for every woman. Mine varies depending on where I am in my cycle. The discharge does not have a strong odor though on it's own and it is not a huge amount either. I think it can also vary from woman to woman, some people produce more, some less. If your gynecologist has run tests on you for STD's and other vaginal disorders and has determined that you are OK, and you feel fine otherwise - no itching, burning, the smell you are talking about is not from the discharge - then perhaps you shouldn't worry. However, it might also be a good idea to get a second opinion if you think that your gyn misdiagnosed you.

Personally, I'd stop wearing the pantyliner for a day or two and see if the smell gets better.

As far as smell, probably due to sweat and the smell of the discharge combines and just makes it smell (to you) I believe your boyfriend doesnt mind. I mean most guys like the smell of a womans parts. I would guess its because of pheremones. My girlfriend was a bit uncomfortable when we started experimenting with oral. She thought she smells bad. But I dont smell it till i get right down in there, and I love it. I wish they made it into a little car freshener. That way I wouldnt mind the 30 mile drive to school during the week. lol

I would get a second opinion. And katie is right. What kind of discharge is it? Like just clear like when you are aroused, or is it like a whitish color.

You mentioned lack of sex. Is it a case of your constantly in the mood? Extremely doubt it but to cover every base. It could be a disorder. I forgot where I read it but its something that causes you to constantly be wet.

We all have a constant, low level vaginal discharge. Some of us more than others. In my case, several days around ovulation, I have a damp spot at the end of the day. The rest of the month, dry but a sniff check testifies that something has happened.

Do not wait for the docotr's call!. Call and ask the nurse. She usually knows what is going on more than the doctor (there, I admitted it). Tell her and have her sneak you in.

We each think we smell. We do, usually at a low level. Wash well at least twice a day. I have patients, and a friend, who change their knickers mid-day, every day. The key here is the smell. A female smell is ok and not much to be done. A foul aroma means there is something wrong.

Or maybe seek another opinion.

I am confused you state you had issue with urinary incontinence thought it would get better post-op, seems to have improved. The question is are you having vaginal discharge or urinary leaking?

thanks for all your answers. to reply to them...
i did try going without a pantyliner for a day...you are right....the smell wasn't there so i thought this too that the smell is being caused by the pantyliner...however i felt uncomfortable having the discharge in my pants. The most uncomfortable part to me however is that i actually feel it coming out....you know like when you're on your period. And since I had the incontinence op it instinctively makes me think/feel i need to go pee coz i felt sthing coming out in my pants.

i do think its a big part a psychological matter also because i've been dealing with this problem for a good 4/5 years now.

before it used to be a mix of urine and discharge....then after the op i was abit unsure what it was...but now i think i can safely say its just discharge. i have been tested more than once by different gynaes and all results came clear.

Oh and the discharge is usually kind of a whitish colour and sometimes clear.

One other thing i was wondering also is if actually wearing the pantyliner itself could cause more to come out? Or also the type of pants you wear? I stick to cotton underwear although I have realised that some seem to cause a stronger 'reaction/smell' than others....although they all say cotton on the label!!

anyway ....thanks again in advance for all your replies.

oh and to answer the 'lack of sex' question by ducy....although we dont have much sex i'm not constantly in the mood or anything - i guess i've kind of 'trained my brain' to not think about it too much coz i know i can't have so its not because i'm constantly horny and cant get any hehe....but that's another issue altogether.
