OP: Post-orgasmic grogginess

My apologies that the title doesn't quite capture what I'm trying to describe here. Let me explain:

Because school has me running around God's green earth like a chicken with my head cut off, if I do masturbate, it's at night in bed before I drift off to sleep. I have rather sensitive nipples that, if fondled/rubbed/squeezed while masturbating, will give me a pretty hefty orgasm within 3-5 seconds. I'll drift off to sleep with little trouble afterwards. When I wake up a few hours later, however, I feel completely drained, unable to even lift myself out of bed for another few hours unless I force myself with all the strength I have and my head has a slight, dull ache. Is this a typical effect of powerful orgasms? Is this only a phenomenon that happens within the male population? To any females lurking on this forum (since you are known for really feeling your orgasms intensely), your input is appreciated.

Replies:

An orgasm, in either men or women, unleashes secretions from a variety of glands around the body. Most notably dopamine, epinephrine, norepinephron and seratonin. These lead to sensations of pleasure and, especially in men, drowsiness. Therefore all the jokes about rolling over and going to sleep. These natural drugs clear the body at different rates in different people. "Hangovers" are not just from alcohol but can be the result of overdosing yourself with things your own body is producing.

My guess is that you get on such a high that you then hit a low and that is when you are awakening. Headache would be quite natural in this situation. Roll over, go back to sleep and you will be fine in the morning. Ready for another go.

Oh, women produce these in varying amounts from men and the reaction in an oestrogen soaked brain is different from the reactions in a testosterone soaked brain. You have just fulfilled your life's destiny (be glad you are not a praying mantis); we women are just beginning ours when we extract that from you. Isn't evolution wonderful?

Wow. I had no clue! This is really interesting. I did the same thing last night and I woke up this morning with the same thing. It's easier to manage when you know what it is. I was able to get out of bed in a reasonable time this morning. When it happened earlier this week, I stayed home from all my classes because I literally couldn't get up. :P
