The now ancient Kinsey studies are considered to be greatly exaggerated and more modern research, with all of the caveats Doc posits, indicates that the actual number is between 2% and 13%. These data are difficult to gether and, in some cultures, impossible. It is virtually impossible to estimate the incidence of same sex contact among married women. Some studies indicate almost 30% and others find none.
Being bi-sexual, and single, I find that female partners are quite a bit more common than most people realize - mostly straight women with some side interest. In pm's about a trip a year or so ago, another (female) member of this Board commented to me that it seems that I find bi- quite easily. I do not even go looking but she had never had any contact and she found it curious that others do with some frequency.
