Mephedrone Abuse, Erectile Dysfunction
Alright guys, I'm new to the forum (hi all) although I have been lurking round the main site picking up some good tips.
Anyway I had a slightly rare problem in that I'm a 19 year old male who, after 12 solid months (with a gap between "sessions" no greater than 2 weeks, some binge sessions lasting 3-4 days at a time) of drug use, now finds it impossible to get a full erection and very difficult to maintain what I do get.
The drug is called Mephedrone, it's basically an amphetamine, and it seems to be very poor for the circulation, as well as raising my blood pressure. I'm not yet entirely done with the substance, sadly, and I recognise cutting it out is the first step but beyond shouting at me for being such a fool, can anyone provide any advice on what steps I should take to restore my erectile capabilities? Do certain foods promote blood flow, or maybe excercises? I am not sure about fighting the effects of street drugs with perscription drugs so I'd like to avoid a trip to the Doctors if possible!

- Get a referral to a Urologist.
- Get a referral to a vascular or circulatory specialist, or a vascular surgeon.
- Do what is required to get free of the drug(s).
Are you able to become aroused, easily, no matter how strong the resulting erection?
Are you dating someone? If so, are the results of making love any better than when home alone, taking matters into your own hands, so to speak?
Are you able to ejaculate even with a flaccid penis?
Depending upon what you learn from the medical people, bottom line, you might have to resign yourself to having a penile implant or pump at some point.

O dear Sean, how did you get into this mess? What went wrong?
Was it curiosity? Or were you in trouble and looking for something to ease your mind?
I'm truly concerned about you, given what you've written. You say that you're not entirely done with it. This sounds like a dependency (addiction)... There are people that specialize in helping you how to quite. Please find the courage to ask for that help!
Given the negative side-effects, I think you should consult a doctor. If you want to be healthy again, you really should get medical attention! You don't want this to go on forever, do you?
I'm happy to read you recognize you've been such a fool. That's step 1. Now step up and take good care of yourself!

You want to get it up again? Stop the mephodrone completely. Then you may recover. "May" because the long term neurological effects are not known. It is most likely that you will recover in a month or so off the stuff. ED is a known short term side effect but because it has only been commonly available for three years or so how permanent or temporary the problem will be is simply not known.
All the other comments are heartfelt and, I hope, helpful and supportive. The fact is that we in the medical profession know very little about this stuff. It was first discovered eighty years ago and because there were no known problems it treated, it went on the shelf. It was noted again only in 2003 and has had very limited medical use. It is likely that ten times as much has been consumed illicitly as by prescription.

Numbers 1-3 I shall, if I can overcome my own embarassment, be the logical steps for me to take. On the questions, yes I can become aroused as before - so it seems - but I haven't really looked into my desire, which I guess is an answer in itself; I've wanted to have sex and mentally been aroused but this has not translated physically. So I don't think it's the desire that is the problem - yes I am dating someone but indeed it has been better taking matters "into my own hands"... sex hasn't really been fulfilling for her because I can't maintain an erection, which I guess in turn affects my confidence, nerves playng an issue perhaps?
And yes can ejaculate/masturbate even when there the erection is paltry. I'm definitely capable of ejaculating and masturbating but effort is greater, reward feels greatly reduced.

All well and good. Please reread my post above. Few doctors have knowledge of this stuff. Urologist, not likely; vascular specialist, perhaps. Get to a drug center. They will have dealt with this, can answer your questions, support you a bit and refer to a doctor who has dealt with this addiction.
