Cramps and brown discharge

Here's the deal. Last night I woke up with what felt like bad cramps. Now I usually do not ever get cramps and when I do it is only the first day before my period starts and very mild. Last night's cramps were much worse so I took an ibuprofen. I was confused though because my period is not supposed to start till Wednesday. Sometimes it starts a day early but it's never started 2 days early since I've been on birth control.

This morning I've been having a slight brown discharge. I don't think it's my period because it's very light and the first day of my period is usually pretty heavy. Also, it's brown. It doesn't have any noticeable odor.

I'm just confused as to what it could be. I have an appointment with my gyno already but I was just hoping that some of you might be able to tell me what the heck is going on. :o

Just early bleeding. I assume you have not skipped any pills or changed the time you take them. Occasionally, it's not uncommon to begin slightly earlier. The discharge is just plain old blood...most are accustomed to bright or dark red; however, there can be times it's older and remember the lining is being shed as well.

I would not concern yourself unless it happened for several months consistently. There are times you can even have break-through bleeding early on.

Despite being on the pill, there may still be months where you get heavier cramps which require Ibuprofen or Tylenol. If you are concerned be certain to contact the prescriber.
