OP: Son enroute... should I get him circumcised?

Ok, I never considered this until my wife and I discussed it, but if we ever have a son, should I have him circumcised? I am, and always figured my son would be, but she is highly against it (unnecesary pain being the number one reason). All in a sudden it is making sense though. I have found over the years when I masturbate, it feels best when I touch the head of my cock. I think having that skin there to touch the head would make it feel great. I find myself almost wishing that I still had mine. The hygiene issue is dead to me. My wife and I are responsible people who never go without showers, and we would pass this on to our son.
The only thing that really holds me back is the fear of him being ostracized for it. I am aware that more and more people are not circumcising their sons, but according to the figures I have seen, 70% of boys are still being circumcised. We all know how people in the minority are treated in this country, and I want to do all I can to make sure my son feels comfortable with what he has.
Uncut men---is hygiene a real issue as long as you have good cleaning habits??? And have you ever been treated unfairly due to it? Thanks!

I've never had any kind of problem. If you bathe like most people there aren't problems keeping it clean.. I have noticed that if you urinate without pulling the foreskin back there can be a *slight* smell by the end of the day. Avoiding that is a simple matter of wiping.

I have recieved the occaisional comment in the locker room. But I usually just remind them that they're the ones who had part of their penis cut off. That's pretty effective at shutting them up.

And I wouldn't do it. If he wants it done then he can decide that for himself when he's old enough.

Our first child was a son. My husband and I researched and researched everything we had at our disposal. We didnt get our son circumsized. My son is 5 and has never had a problems. The main thing is cleanliness, its like teaching them to brush their teeth. You have to pull it back and clean it when you shower. Thats it. And as far as being teased or whatnot , I hope in our family that teaching him to embrace differences in anything and anyone rather than judging will help him to have confidence if he were to ever be unfortunate enough to be subjected to it.
All in all I think its not something that needs to be done to the human body. As my husband says if you were born with foreskin you should die with your foreskin lol
Good luck.

just my 50 cents, hope it helps

i was never circumcised because the hospital said that they wouldent do it ( who knew)and my moms really wanted to have it done on me but was never done,n e ways today i thank that hospital wit all my hart for not doing it .i was always brought up to belive it was a bad thing and my father was not circumcised as well and has always complained so i was tought that i must always keep it clean and pay extra attention to it so i always have, and it hasent been a problem ( i am a very clean person i think also that has to do wit it on some psychological level ). i have asked many of my freinds about it and most of them never were and the ones that were seem to be curious abouut it. and as fare as my father goes i know why he complains about it, i have a friend that has the same problem as him, it is umm i dont know if you have read about the skin that remands stuck to the head...? but n e ways there is a part of the skin that remand stuck to the head and this skin is supposed to be pulled back if not it well hurt durring sex because its pulling on your head. one day i was masturbating and noticed it was detaching from my head so i dont know why but i began to pull on it till it all came off and eventually it did (dide'nt hurt really). not to long ago i found out that thise was supposed to happend and on some people it happends during sex i guess its the guy version off the cherry , but n e ways on some people like my dad and one of my freinds it did not fully come off so they have a lil pain. so if you let your son know about this so that he can be prepared for thise and pull it off by himself he wont be confused or what not about it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Don't do it. It's crap.

If you're worried about hygiene...what's there to worry? All you have to do is clean underneath once in a while. Nothing else. We're born with foreskin and we're meant to have foreskin.

And about feelings, having a foreskin is much better than without.

Those into certain religions are all about it... but I can't see it as anything but genital mutilation to a child.

This is an american thing. here in UK kids dont get circumcised unless jewish or muslim
Most think its child abuse to do unnecessary surgery on an infant
You have to teach your kid to pull his foreskin back to clean when in the shower.
If it wont come back, talk to the doc. but if its tight you might train it by pulling it back a little more each time till it comes back all the way.

nature made us with a foreskin to protect the sensitive glans penis. I think she knows best.
