Viagra after Spinal Cord Injury
Hello,
I am a 45 year old male spinal cord injury survivor that is experiencing more erectile dysfunction as time goes on. Here are the specifics...
Thirteen years ago I severely broke my back (L1 vertebra burst fracture with prolonged spinal cord canal intrusion) and was impotent for five months afterward. I am so lucky to have recovered enough to get back on my feet, not to mention returning to a very physically demanding job. Since my accident, my penis and surrounding area has decreased sensitivity from before and I have to force urination via abdominal muscle control. I have been able to achieve an erection most of the time, but it usually takes very direct stimulation to reach climax (rarely vaginal intercourse). Probably 1 out of 10 times I am unable to have an orgasm no matter what is done. Over the last few months, I have begun to have difficulty staying erect enough for any prolonged intercourse. I seem to get limp about five minutes into the act. Thank God that I am good at pleasing my wife orally and that she loves me enough to be so understanding.
Is one of the erectile dysfunction drugs for me? Physical exams for my job show that I am physically fit, don't have diabetes, hypertension, or any prostate problems. I guess my neurological history complicates the matter and I question if Viagra would help maintain my erection, even though I may not be "feeling" very much stimulation to keep me going.
Live, Love, and Laugh!
