When someone tells you something sensitive while they were drinking and act as if nothing happened the next day, it can cause a lot of confusion. When the liquor flows freely, the truth comes pouring out; but the question is, is it really the truth?

Alcohol tolerance varies from person to person, and the degree of intoxication one experiences depends on their gender, age, genetics, how quickly they drink, how much they've eaten, and even how tired they feel. There are also an assortment of ways that people act while they're inebriated, and it sounds like your boyfriends is the type who's prone to verbal diarrhea and schmaltziness.

Take what your boyfriend says with a grain of salt. Sure, some people let their guard down after having a few drinks, and aren't as inhibited to let their true feelings surface. On the other hand, there are certain individuals out there who can easily confuse reality with imagination when they are sauced, and when certain emotions get triggered during a bout of drinking not only do they lose their filter, they could actually be reliving a memory and confusing you as a player in their mind trip.

Your guy needs to be held accountable for the things that come out of his mouth, drunk or not, because the impact on you is far more of a burden than you might think. Not only is he sending mixed messages by telling you he loves you - (talk about getting your mind spinning!) – but it also weakens your trust in what he says because you're used to alcohol-induced proclamations that always fall short of the truth.

If you haven't brought this up to him already, be up front about the things he told you the night before, and let him know how his double talk affects you. Doing so could release a new level of openness between the two of you, and might make him think twice about getting so smashed in front of you. If, despite your concerns, he continues to act in this manner, remove yourself from the situation to limit your exposure to his punch drunk tales.
