Is it normal to feel guilty even when you know it's okay?

I grew up really religious and even though I've worked through a lot of that, I still get this wave of guilt sometimes. Like I'll be enjoying myself with my fiancé and then suddenly feel like I'm doing something wrong, even though we're adults and we love each other.

I know logically that there's nothing wrong with it. But the feeling is still there sometimes. Does that go away? Has anyone else dealt with this?

That guilt is real and you're not alone in it. A lot of people who grew up in religious households carry that even after they've moved past the beliefs themselves. It's not a switch you flip — it fades over time but it takes patience with yourself.

The fact that you can name it and recognize it's not rational is already a huge step. Give yourself some credit.
