Replies:

I had one done about 4 years ago. It is a simple procedure with no pain.
You are aware that the doctor is working down below.
You feel an ache in the groin area for a few days but nothing else.
The stitches dissolved so there was no need to go back except with the sperm sample about a month later.
I was sexually active about a week later and have had un-protected sex with my wife ever since - so it certainly worked.
nothing to worry about

Definitely a big difference! You never need any form of birth control after!! Biggest problem I had was my pubic hair growing back and getting caught in my shorts. No regrets for me

You have the male perspective.
Female perspective: No real difference except we are relieved from the contraceptive duties. There is a small minority of women who become nonorgasmic tempotarily. To the extent this has been dealt with, it appears that someof us react that "we are not getting what is coming to us" and our response shuts down until that is dealt with. Quite rare, really.

Medical perspective: It takes several ejaculations to flush your system of sperm. Some men have had it done only to impregnate their partners with the first shot! Ask your doctor. I guess about a dozen should be into a tissue or condom or other safe place. Then a sperm count should be done to ensure that everything was cut properly.

I've had it. Twice actually. My first one didn't take so I got a second freebie to double check everything.

Honestly I'll say that I think a lot of men are either wusses, or (more likely) people "think" it has to be a big deal because of where it is being done. It's totally not. I had both, without the drugs other than a local numbing shot. I talked to the guy the whole time. They have a separator curtain over you, so it's not like you're watching it happen. All they do is make a tiny ass nick, then they roll it around till a tube shows and they pull it out, do the cut and fix the ends, then stick them back in. Lather rinse repeat for the second. It's like 20-30 minutes tops. I'm now like 8 months out from my second one, and I can't even feel any scar.

As I said I didn't take a valium, I didn't get a prescription, and I took 2 Ibuprofen a day. That's it. I drove home even. The most inconvenient part was applying ice. Every time I'd run to the ice machine at work all the ladies there would giggle. Oh yeah, I wen't back to work the next morning. :)

Put it this way, have you ever had poison ivy? I would have a vasectomy any day of the week rather than go through that stuff ever again.
