fleshy growth down there? hpv?
i was recently told i have HPV and had a couple of warts around the opening of my vagina. those seem to be gone. but sometimes when i look at myself now, on the inside of the outer lips, there is fleshy skin.
im sorry i dont know all the terms but i know there is the normal part of the vagina that comes out a little bit, sort of in line with the clitoris. but to the ONE side of that if i spread the lips there is some fleshy skin that hangs down quite a bit sometimes and is very obvious.
but other times if you were to just look with a mirror everything looks normal because it is kind of pushed up in the lips and you cant see it.
it wasnt until recently that i have started to look at myself so closely. and now i am wondering if that was always like that or if it is huge fleshy growth that is new. and it by no means looks like a wart or anything.
i am just looking for opinions, because i am a little nervous to go to the doctors and have them look around and not even know what i am talking about because it is a normal part of me.

I'm not a woman, but I've seen my share of the equipment. In my opinion it sounds normal and from my understanding, the more aroused you get the more things loosen up down there. If I were you, I'd do a little experiment and find a time when the "normal part of the vagina that comes out a little bit, sort of in line with the clitoris" is "pushed up and hidden". Try and get yourself as aroused as possible and see if the "fleshy part" returns.

Of the 100+ variations of HPV, two are associated with genital warts. Four are associated (statistically) with cervical cancer in later life. We have no idea what many of them may or may not cause. In other words, you need to be more precise in stating your question.
If you have contracted genital herpes, you can expect minor changes in your appearance from time to time but nothing dramatic. It is most likely that you have always been that way, with a little variation during your monthly cycle, and one of your inner lips is simply larger than the other. If you have any concern, talk to your doctor about it. Mostly, get yourself educated and Thresher's recommended site is a good place to start (although his recommended action would yield nothing meaningful). Too many people throw around the HPV term and have no idea what they are talking about.
The number one item is do you have genital herpes or not. Are you being treated? Do you know how to prevent spreading it?

Yes I have been treated. They went away very quickly actually. And I know all about HPV and how condoms are not necessarily 100% effective for it and how it can recur over time... i have done my research and been to a sexual health clinic. I was there less than a month ago actually for the warts... so most likely they would have noticed anything odd and commented on the skin? It does look normal i suppose... but I have just really never noticed it before... so that is whats strange. And there is nothing like that on the other side... so maybe it is just a size difference of the lips like you suggested? some days it is just very obvious and looks big to me that i cant believe ive never seen it...
i just started looking on the internet and related it all to cancer and now ive scared myself. but it is normal colour and does not hurt or anything...
and thanks for the website. i know it doesnt hurt to go to a doctor and that is what i will do. but i wanted an opinion before i walk in and a doctor makes me feel silly for being there... and has no clue what im even looking at.
sometimes i think i just jump to conclusions ever since i got the genital warts.. and now I am never sure whats normal and whats not.. and what was there before and what is new...

Whenever you have what appears to be a change, see a doc. Even if you think it might be normal. Best off walking out with a "you are okay" then walking around with a disease which is potentially harmful or questions which make you filled with doubt. Most often health care people expect questions...
