Bacterial Infection?
Ok I've been having problems now for about a month and it's getting really irratating so some help would be much appreciated. I'm not sure if they are all related to one thing or not.
It all started when my wife was doing oral and when I ejaculated there was some blood in the semen after that I noticed a burning in the tip of my penis and some pains in my pelvic area and lower back, then after awhile I started feeling like I had to urinate all the time but little or nothing comes out.
The worst of the problem though is that I've been having problems maintaining an erection during sex now, I can always get it back and finish my buissiness but it's still really frustrating having to stop in the middle of it almost every time!
I went to the doctor and he said it was probably my blood pressure meds and switched me from lotrel to cozaar but I was on lotrel for a year and no problems until now and after being on cozaar for two weeks there is still no improvement. And he gave me some sample's of levitra which worked wonders but I don't think I should have to rely on meds for that at 26 y/o..
He also gave me some antibiotics for a kidney/bladder infection (i'm not even sure which one lol) and I took the entire week worth and the symptoms are still there!
Could all these be related and I've read alot of these symptoms could be from a prostate infection, Are there specific antibiotics needed for treating the prostate and could the antibiotics (Amoxi/Clav) he gave me not have worked for the prostate if thats the case?
Also he gave me a prostate exam and said everything seemed normal, could he tell if there was an infection from a digital exam?

See the doc, a repeat culture should have been done. Sometimes a second antibiotic is necessary...If no results see another doc.

There are several things that point to prostatitis. Ejaculating blood is almost always an indication of infection in the prostate. Secondly, very few anti-biotics get "into the prostate;" many meds that would be used for other infection do not get to it. The ones you describe would not be my first choice for the prostate. When your prostate is inflamed the rest of your urinary system is also infected. Many doctors, including me, would treat for prostatitis based on the bloody ejaculate and ALSO run a culture. Meds may be adjusted after the culture results are in. Typically, an infected prostate is hard to the touch during examination.
I see no reason to mess with blood pressure meds. I recommend that you see a urologist. Even if the bloody ejaculate does not repeat that does not mean that you are cured of prostatitis.
I would recommend the use of condoms until this all gets cleared up. You will not likely infect your wife but you can make her a carrier re-infecting you.

Ok thanks, that was going to be my next question, how it would affect my Wife because we started having sex again at the end of the week that I was taking the antibiotics and I thought it was cleared up.
How long does it usually take to clear up? I've read sometimes it takes a good long round of antibiotics and even then it's more likely to happen again once you have had it once.

With the proper anti-biotic, it usually takes a one week regimen. If you are still having symptoms, you still have the infection. The symptoms usually disappear before your prescription runs out. The infection can still be there, so take the whole thing.
Please see a urologist, get this cleared up and then you can mess with the blood pressure. You may have presented the physician with a primary concern of getting it up and he addressed side-effects of many blood pressure meds. The problem could be the infection. Too many things addressed at once.
