period irregularities
I'm concerned my period has not been normal the last 5 times. I was previously on Lowestrin24Fe birth control till about november i think. I ran out of the pill and the doctor wouldn't prescribe more without seeing her and I was on my period so I just went without ever since then. I thought my period would stay normal after being on birth control but it's been so irregular and heavier ever since I stopped. After I stopped I went 49 days without a period, then 53, 50, 66, 41 days. Next week I should maybe get my period again but that will be 41 days again if I have it by then. I have gained a lot of weight. I'm 240 pounds as of two days ago and I've been stressed at work the last couple months and we just bought our first house. Is this something to be concerned about or you think it's just taking a while for my body to adjust after the pill?

Even in extreme cases, going on or off hormonal birth control will not cause weight gain or physical issues to the extent you describe. And you are well beyond the "after effects" of having been on the pill. I advise a marriage counselor in response to your other post. Now, I add a personal counselor to sort out what is going on. This, after a complete gyn workup as Evil suggests above. I do this with the same sense of urgency she has.
You are talking multiple stressors in your life, some of which should be change for the better. Still stressors.
- Make an appointment with your gyn for a COMPLETE workup.
- Make an appointment with a counselor to sort out your own issues.
- When indicated by personal counseling, see a marriage therapist with your husband.

Well the weight gain was over a long period of time. I really think it's that I've been really stressed with everything going on in my life this past year. I was always told stress can affect your period. I actually started my period today instead of next week like I thought so it's getting to be a little closer together. Thats 33 days which is better right? I can't really see a doctor for a couple weeks cause I'm leaving for a vacation this thursday and I won't be back until sunday.

Your weight (loss) may have something to do with it and the pill you were on may have a bit to do with it. No matter, you need to discuss this with your gyn. Some issues you may want to discuss: Why this particular pill? Do you really need the iron? If so, it is much cheaper to buy a lower priced pill and a separate ferrous sulfate pill (one of the cheapest supplements around and you can adjust the iron as you need it without affecting your birth control. This is a "fourth generation" pill and there have been reports world wide of women not tolerating them as well as the the third generation pills (still available and cheaper). The progeserone component has been changed between generations. Also, the modern pills are the first in sixty years that seem to need be regulated with the weight of the individual (very heavy women are having "failures").
Too many women simply accept the prescription and take it. At the very least, this is usually more expensive and at the worst you may be getting an inappropriate medication "The pill is not simply the pill; there are varieties for good reasons.
