OP: is the Yaz pill good?

i'm going to get the pill in the next week : ) and i'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with YAZ?
my mom thinks it would be best and i've done a little research and it seems about right but i'd like to know what you ladies think of it if you or anyone you know has been on it.

oh, and i also have mittelschmerz and i'm really really hoping this will eliminate this pain. is that a possibility?

thanks : )

Speak w/ your prescriber, not all pills work well for all.

My GF tried Yaz and hated it. She became very detached emotionally and on her first period she bled for 3 weeks with horrible cramps. On top of that, her sex drive disappeared completely.

Of important note is that she only stayed on it for 2 months and the body usually takes more to adjust to the new hormone level but she didn't think it was worth going through more weeks of the horrible mood and nonexistent sex drive to follow through.

About 3 weeks after she stopped she was back to normal. Normal being very happy, upbeat, and having sex almost everyday.

We did a lot of research on the drug, and there are EXTREMELY mixed results with some calling it a life saver and others the drug from hell. Talk with your physician about your specific needs.

I've been on a few other drugs and Yaz has worked very well for me. I didn't experience the weight gain that I got from the Loestrin FE, and while I still get lower back muscle congestion before my period, the cramps are GONE. No mood side effects either. I've been pleased.

well, my doctor decided that ortho tricyclen lo would work best for me. and she also skipped my first pelvic saying that an ultrasound i got two months ago would suffice. is that weird to anyone?

The worst thing you can do is check everyone else'reaction to a specific pill. There are more than forty available. We each adapt differently and a good pill for a friend may give you problems. The doctor has a few with which she is familiar and will usually use them as long as the patient adapts well.

With a recent ultrasound, skipping the pelvic may be acceptable. I would do the exam.
