What's the best dating advice you've ever gotten?

Mine came from my abuela of all people. She told me "if you have to wonder whether she likes you, she doesn't." Took me way too long to actually listen to that one.

I feel like most dating advice online is either manipulative garbage or so generic it's useless. But every now and then somebody hits you with something real.

What's the best piece of advice someone gave you about dating? Bonus if it came from an unlikely source.

My older sister told me "stop dating potential." As in stop falling for who someone could be and start paying attention to who they actually are right now. Changed everything for me ngl.

A bartender once told me "if he wanted to, he would." I was three drinks in and venting about a guy who kept flaking. She said it so casually but it hit me like a truck. Still think about it.
